My friends got this T3/T4 turbo he wants to sell me.. anways its supposely rebuilt(looks like it, very clean, all the ports are plugged, ect) and I guess its got a garrett cartridge in it. On the flange of the T3 turbine housing one side says: 20357 and on the other side says "20358". This housing is also stamped with "T" for the turbonectics logo. He said its a T3/TO4E dont know what trim or wheel or anything. Any help?

Next to my index finger is the Turbonetics logo, and above my thumb are those numbers on each side of the flange.

Thats odd that it has two different part numbers on the turbine housing. The 20357 is for a 0.48 A/R T3 housing and the 20358 is for a 0.63 A/R T3 housing.http://64.225.76.178/catalog/thousing.html

I wouldnt buy a turbo without knowing the specs and you'd have to open this one up and measure the wheels to find the trims.

scar, what makes you say its an SSA turbo? Most compressors have some numbers stamped on them and this one doesnt. Is that why?

Yeah I dont think SSAC turbos have the "Turbonetics" logo stamped on the housing.

i work at a performance tuning shop, i think i have held about 11 ebay turbos in my hands and. these are turbos that customers bought and wanted us to install.

we denied since we tried one in the past and it destroys itself after 1000miles. the issue is they are mass produced chinese turbo's made with very pourous metal and poor casting.

the reason i can tell its a ebay turbo is because it uses the same compressor housing as most of the ebay turbo's

i have seen the turbonetics "T" on most of the housings of these turbos they are being copied.

so you got yourself a garrett/turbonetics turbo

only way this turbo is good like my turbo guy has done, is use the compressor and turbine housings of the ebay turbo and use a genuine garrett cartridge with proper internals.

Agreed...why would you mix Turbonetics parts and Garret parts? You wouldn't unless you were building the turbo yourself at which point you'd probably know the trims etc of the parts you installed.

Looks just like an EBAY unit. I have a T3/TO4E, compressor doesn't look like that. Also note that SSAC calls the T3/T4O on the website, thats cuz they're idiots and leave grammatical errors up. There is no T3/T4O....another thing that denotes the SSAC idiocy.

Sorry that was a typo on my part, my friend said its a T3/T04E, not a T3/T4OE.

Well thats the thing, the original housing was a lil damaged so he got this other housing for it thats not stamped at all, and I guess the person who rebuilt it just put a complete garrett cartidge in there.. im trying to get a hold of my friend right now to get some more info..

If the compressor doesn't have a name on it it's probably a Chinese knock off. Could be that the exhaust housing was swaped at some point.

Im pretty sure the housing isnt an "Ebay" one, because it doesnt even have half the notches the egay one has. My friend said the compressor housing was taken off another turbo and just polished.

He confirmed the turbo being rebuilt with a complete geuine garrett cartridge. He said its a T3/T04E .57 "S" Trim Compressor, with a .63 A/R Turbine Housing and stage 2 turbine wheel.

hmm how does that sound?
