It may be the lower control arm ball joint..... But if your talking about that metal assy, its sometimes known as the "spindle" but on joes site its called the axle assy...

The Guy I took It To Says I Need To Replace That!!! And The Ball Joint..

You need to have your mechanic confirm whether it's just the ball joint that needs replacing (the small pyramid-shaped piece with the rubber boot, that's threaded on the end) or the whole upright assy (aka spindle). The ball joint is sleeved into the upright with a steel insert, and it's actually pretty easy and cheap to replace... changing out the whole upright is another story, as you have to remove a lot of components to get it in and out... not to mention the fact that the upright costs a LOT more than the ball joint.
