help me i pluged my ecm and i still have no responce

hello i have an infiniti i30 year 2001 and it has 86,000 mi well it all started when one of the cables in the engine compartment some how came loose. it cought on fire and fried my ecm. me and my father inlaw replaced the burnt cables. well i bought a used ecm and pluged it in so far nothing has happed my car still does that same it just cranks and doesent satart. the reason we came up with the ecm being fried is that when we try to start the engine thge check engine light does not come on everything else goes on but not the check engine light. does me ecm need programing even if its used and it came off another infiniti i30. or is that ecm busted too. please help me with this problem thaks

Have you checked for other damage from the fire?

have you had your keys programed into the new ECU?

no i havent programed the key yet but doesent the check engine light come up when i turn the key. when i plug in the new computer (used and bought from jusnk yard) the check engine light doesent come on is thyis a problem. because i heard that if this light doesent come on the computer isint working. thats how we ended up finding the fryed compuetr

Not to go throwing more options into your mess, but that bulb could have also been fried with your little fire too.

Maybe you should see if it has any codes?

could that be a posibility. i dont have a computer to check it but do u think that could be an option. oh and do i have to program the computer. it was from another infiniti

how can i find out if my check engine light is fryed too

when you turn the key to run it should come on for a few seconds and then go out. And yes the ecu has to be programed to each individual key.

I had a problem with a 96 some years back and Nissan told me that if you replace the ECM it has to be reprogrammed and caliberated for your car' engine. Call you local Infiniti dealer to find how much they charge for that.
