Search around a bit and take a look at the KA forums. People do the swap fairly often (SOHC to DOHC).

As for how easy it is, I guess that depends on your level ofexperience with automotive work. I'd recommend getting a Factory Service Manual if you're going to try it though and definitely read a lot of the posts relating to it here at NICO.

You might want to find out as much as you can about that engine before you buy too.

i have a chiltons manual but im not doing the work myself.i read some of the other threads and it seems to be a wiring thing.im like the laziest dude in the world,if i had the money id take it to a shop and say"i want a new engine, ill be back later to pick it up".but im married and my wife doesnt understand about 240s.i love mine and i havent even driven it yet!

I feel exactly what your going through. I haven't driven my 240 yet, but i'm almost done with the ka24e "rebuild". Never before have I attempted to do any major engine work until now and it's not as bad as I thought it was. I just rebuild the head and replaced it, refreshed the intake by rebuilding it, replace the timing chain and front cover (broke 3 bolts off in the old one), replace the exhaust system and other minor random things. The work would have ran me $1500 at the shop, so I said screw it and did it myself. No FSM. *If anybody has one scanned up for the ka24e, PLEASE scan it up for me, I STILL can't figure out where the p/s pump goes!

It is a 89. Thanks for the info. Does it bolt to anything because I don't see where the bolts would go?

Searched the net. Took damn near a week to find the info, but I got it! I didn't have the exact specs so there was a couple of broken bolts unfortunatly....
