I need help from all the niconauts out there in order to convince my mom I don't need airbags! I have a 92 coupe w/o airbags that she let me get, well it's time to upgrade to this:

http://240atlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53875 :chuckle:

$2,900 tomorrow if I wish..

She won't let me get it because:

A) It's 20 years old

B) there's no airbags

C)... well there isn't a third one really, but you can't just stop on B)...

Soooo please throw me something so I can get this damn car!

Get an s14? They have airbags.

Age? Depends on the vehicle you are currently looking at.
Airbags, well that's gonna be her issue and if you aren't insuring and registering it your self then get a car with airbags. If the money is all good on your end there isn't much they can do, other than hassle you incessantly.

Look at the car.

Its unibody and a solid chassis. If durability is in question...Has she seen what people do day after day in these things on the track?

If the motor is strong... upgrade your suspension and keep nice tires on it and you'd be safer than most cars it's age driving.

If I could find an S14 for a decent price then I would.

And that's a little confusing about insuring and registering, but yeah the money is out of my pocket, not theirs.

The fact that that hatch has basically been rebuilt all the way through still isn't enough for her to believe it's a reliable car.

thanks yall. haha

So your mom doesn't like the fact that you have a 20 year old car without airbags, and you want us to give her a reason as to why you should get another 20 year old car without airbags?

I don't understand your logic.

No, see she doesn't care that my car now is missing them, but she is flipping out about this one not having them.

This is also the same mom that saw it came with an uninstalled aluminum radiator and is now dead set on believing that means the car will overheat???

The fact of the matter is, it's extremely hard to find a car that is mid-90's with airbags for $3,000. And the ones that do have airbags are 96% of the time riced out civics and integras... :inoutgay:

do you need another car right now? why? can't you wait until you're 18 so you can register and insure it under your own name? as far as i'm concerned, you may be paying for it, but if it's all going under her name legally, you really don't have a leg to stand on, or any room to argue. while you're still a minor, your parents make the rules, fact of life, deal with it.

^ i see the difference,
but if she's ok with you having a car that is MISSING airbags compared to a car that never had them,
it's the same ish.

most parents are like that.

is there something wrong with your coupe that makes you not want it?
if it's your car and your money,
go buy that car and sell your coupe.

Well I'm giving my coupe about a week before it blows a hg, and seeing as I have no other way to work, yes I do need another car right now. Insurance company's very rarely start policy's with minor's as we tend to not make enough to support an insurance bill every month, State Farm won't even consider it until I can prove I'm self sufficient.

Believe me, I live with that sad fact of life everyday... But I honestly don't think she see's the situation I'm in. Would you rather have a lightly modded 20 year old car without airbags that runs fine, or a 20 year old car without airbags that is about to rollover?

She's defiantly like that..

It has a leaking hg, has $2,500 worth of body damage on driver side, need's an alignment, and there's something up with the suspension not sure what though..

If only it were that easy, numbnuts is right, I can't get a car without her signature and approval.

Right after you got on the ground, kickin' and screaming... she made you promise her that you would do the dishes, take out the garbage, mow the lawn aaaaand rub her feet for the next 10 years didn't you. :mike

Just tape a pillow onto your steering wheel and passenger side dash. Might make your mom feel a little better? lol jk
