Okay, long story short my new s13 is burning a bit of oil. like when I floor it I can see a nice little cloud of blue behind me.

The car sat for a few months before running, but when I was working on it in the winter I comp-checked it cold and came up with 155-165 ish across all 4 cylinders. I think I'm going to check it again today to make sure my suspicions are correct.

I think the rings are fine, judging by the compression, and I have a feeling the valve guides are shot causing me to burn a lot of oil.

Does this sound right? Would a shot PCV cause oil burning or am I smoking crack?

Anyone lend me some advice please?

How many miles on the motor, and has it been overheated?

It wouldnt be your valve guides causing you to smoke, it would be the valve seals.

yeah my s13 did the same thing. it just smokes when you take off from a start rught? its was my valve seals I rebuilt the whole engine but I could have just rebuilt the head and been fine. remove your head and take it to a good machine shop it should only be a few hundred bucks for them to replace everything.

the car has 283000 km's on it, been close to over heating but it never has. Idles great, runs great just burns oil.

I figure it is the valve seals. I'm compression testing it properly tomorrow at work, and then I'll most likely be rebuilding the head as I suspect it is the valve seats.

Thanks guys

Checked the compression today

167-165-173-175

These numbers all look pretty good to me, 1 and 2 are clearly a little lower but I'm not burning coolant and I doubt the head gasket is shot.

Check if there's oil around the throttle body and the piping.

My money is on the valve seals. Mine did the same thing and now I don't lose any oil between changes. Just go ahead and change them it'll pay for itself if you are using lucas additive at every oil change like I use to.
