heres my prob with my 240, ive searched but not found much.symtoms-wont start sometimes, when it does i have to pump gas pedal a little to get rpms up or it sputter and stall. after holding it at 2k for a few seconds it idles.-really bad gas mileage-smell of gas from tailpipe-can smell gas in oil, although its not burning any IE (no blue smoke)

does this mean its running really really rich?? if so how could i fix it? i replaced the fuel filter with a 300zx today, and it ran fine for a bit, then it started acting up again. right now its just sitting in the driveway and i cant start it. but it will prolly start up in awhile.:help

02 Sensor prolly.... or a MAF problem.

Clean your MAF with some brake cleaner and see if that helps.

This is exactly what happened to my friend with a s13 sr, His MAF was bad and he had a vacuum leak. After replacing his MAF and check all his vacuum lines his car ran like a champ.

Good luck

Sounds like theres a prob with the fuel line, after you get it flowing it kinda fixes itself, but the innitial start is a botch. Check into getting new lines, also do you have any leaks when your car sits in one place?? Reply and tell us what happens.

also check your coolant temp sensor connector( 2 wire) for corrosion in the connection. notorious for cold start enrichment problems. clean it if its full of green powder. battery terminal cleaner works well.also baking powder with water mix works well too.

i think i fixed the problem, i had a bad ground wire going from the block to the firewall. it was all charred and nasty, i replaced taht and it has no trouble starting now. i also dont smell raw fuel in the exhaust anymore. the timing was off a little bit so i redid taht, followed directions to a T, but i still have taht high idle 1000-1100k. do you have to disconnect the tps when you adjust the idle screw?? cuz i turn the screw and nothing happens.....

I'm sure someone else can [de]verify this, but I'm 80% positive you must disconnect the TPS sensor before adjusting the idle.

Also be sure your good and warmed up before doing so. This high idle, was this at cold or warm/hot start?

Possibly your AIV(air intake valve) is gunked up. You shouldn't need to remove the enture assy. to simply clean it(carb or brake cleaner is fine). The fact that your car idles the same hot or cold doesn't seem right. It should run higher at cold start until warm.

It's just a guesstimation, but HTH anyways.-Jamie
