I plan on getting some coilovers for my work in progress, 98' 240, and like anyone, i want to be happy with them. Im lookin for something not too stiff but dont really care. So whats my best bet for under $1000 along the lines of tein, ksport, megan, jic, tanabe, stance, etc...I was thinkin jic sf-1s for no reason in particular, but id also like to learn more about theseThanks

my recommendations: KTS, Stance gr+ pros (may be a little over a grand by a hundred or so). Theres a few more out there for under a grand, like Function Form, PBM, BC, and some others you may want to research...

What are your plans for them? if you just planning on using them for the street, dont pay for Expensive stuff, when you could have got the same thing out of a 800 dollar set of megans.. but if your tracking them Stance GR+ Pro's.

your gunna notice a lot of people coming in here saying to go stance or go home, but like i said, if your not going to use your coilover to what its made to do (Dampening, and different Settings) and you just want to be slammed then get the cheapest yet best coilover for that price range..

cause if your just worried about the ride comfort, you dont need Expensive coilovers, good spring rates will make a world of difference..

Edit:

Whoop was i right... ^^^ example.. most of the people that will come in here saying go with the best **** are the name brand whores who just slam there car. with a slammed car your not gonna notice a big difference anyway cause its not at optimal ride height in the first place..

im not saying cheap coilovers FTW y0, im just saying why pay more for the street when you could have gotten the same thing and for the same use for less?

But Stance FTW on track..

For example I got Footwerks, a brand that youve prolly never heard of and yes there knockoffs of something better, but i could not ask for better quality, and back to the Point... My friend bought stance GR+ Pro's (For the Street) I tried to get him to go with footwerks, (since there a local Business) and all he did was slam his car and brag that he has stance.. But you know what? Right now as i am very happy with mine, He complains that his are waaay to stiff and bouncy, and mine are fine, and he now wishes he had saved 500 dollars, and listened to me.

hope i helped with your decision..

Cameron.

Do the S-0C type 2's come with upper mounts or do you re-use the factory upper mounts?

....if you thought my comments were "FTL", what have you done to help this fella out? All your comments were just mainly use to flame on me and recommend some other tanabe coilovers without any helpful information..... Even though i said "i've heard stance were good" ,it doesn't mean that haven't experienced them in person. I was actually a passenger of a friend, who had stance on his s14, and it felt comfortable+stiffer than my tein flex and megan streets. Thats why i "recommended stance" over the other options he had in mind. So don't assume that "i've heard" start with bs , plus stop bsing your way towards more post

Add another vote for Stance GR+. I've used Eibach sportlines with KYB's and Tein basics. The Stance handled bumps better than the eibach's and had a lot less body rolled compared to the tein's. Plus you can slam the sh*t out of your car if you wanted to with stances and we all know how important that is .

Are the stance gr+ pros worth getting instead of the gr+ since they are only like $100 more?

yes... helper springs really do make the ride a bit more smoother

with the helper springs can you lower the car any more/less than w/o them?

for street, unless you live where there are large undulations in the pavement, you probably won't notice (unless the main springs are really crappy or something). the helpers should be virtually fully compressed with the car sitting still. they're designed to have super-low spring rate to do the job detailed below. they're not there to help ride, just add droop travel.

helper springs just give you more droop travel. the stiff springs in most coilovers only give you ~0.5" of droop, so if your inside rear lifts up more than 0.5", like if you go over a rumble strip or a bump or whatever, that tire will lift off the ground because it's fully extended and can't reach the ground. so yes, for racing, you want them. you'll want to adjust them, though. you probably don't need the helper spring all the way extended; you probably only need and inch or 1.5" of droop, so simply adjust the lower collar until the helper is is 0.5-1.0". really you should crunch some numbers but i'm just giving you a starting point.
