The above are all season tires. The first one is the widest of the three. I had Michelin Pilot's in the 235/XX/15 range when I first got the car and it handled beautifully despite the tires being at 3/32 of inch of tread. So thats why I want the widest tire I can get. But with snow where I am I need something narrorow that will dig through the snow.

Should I look into a dedicated snow tire? We do not have crazy winters here, But we do see snow.

You will only get one good winter with all seasons up here paul. Get a set of summers and a cheap set of studded winters. AS im approaching 300k Im inches from buying a WRX or legacy sport. I never realized how capable the AWD in the subaru is. One of if not THE best AWD system out there

Do you still have your OE wheels? I would keep the OE wheels for extreme condition winter tires and get some later model 18" Q45 or Nissan wheels.

I really enjoy how the Q handles with 18" Q45 wheels and the new Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position tires.

I completely agree with the following statement from Bridgestone.

"With this tire, Bridgestone delivers an ideal blend of ultra-high performance handling with the added benefits of enhanced wear and all-season traction. Thanks to advanced technologies, including a silica-rich performance compound, "stealth" tread elements and 3D siping, this tire will help you take the road by storm."

I would also get the XL load rating, but given the choices you were showing us perhaps you're not looking to spend alot of $$$. I totally agree that 15" rims on that big Q is not ideal and that all-season tires suck. I had the 050 Pole Positions and loved them, now i have Michelin Pilot Sports and love those too. Both had their good qualities, but if I was buying again I think I'd do the Michelins as they handle equally well but feel very very strong.

BTW, looks like that link to the Sumito's is gone, so the TA's (not my favorite brand or tires) seem like your only option from the rack in that size.

The goodrich is only an S speed rated tire, way to low for the Q. I have the Sumi htr p01 H speed rated is what I ended up with a year ago when Michilin stopped producing the Exalto in a 15" size suitable for the Q. Gotta say,I have been happy with the Sumitomos so far, equal to the Exaltos in every way, except possibility longevity....only time will tell.

When I looked last year,it seemed the only real options in H and above all season rated tires that fit the stock wheels were the sumi htr p01 and the firestone Precision sport

After reading this thread, click around a little and saw this in the area:

Don't know the brand. What do you think of them? or should I stick with the OE 18"s?

Check out the Continental Extreme Contact DWS tire. I've heard great things, and my old boss put them on his WRX and RAVED about them. They're going on my Q when I get new tires this summer...

How are they in the snow? I may go with these tires after all.

Have not driven enough in deep snow conditions on them to make any recommendations yet,but so far have never gotten stuck yet when used on 1-3" snow covered roads.
