I have Falkens (I forget the type at the moment, I think it is GRB FK-451) and I love them. I CAN'T break them lose, even with a fair amount of wear and on wet pavement (parking lot of course). When I go to get new tires in the next couple of weeks I will definitely be getting some more Falkens.

Your not trying hard enough.

What is the most important thing you are looking for in these tires?Tread warenoise levelgriprain/snow traction

Because some of these tires are not like the others.

Those two are usually mutually exclusive. Or are you speaking in relative terms? Or are you being facetious?

Yeah, I'm aware that for more grip you have to sacrifice treadwear, but with people's experience which tire has the best of both worlds. Street tires that is. I live in WA, so ice on the roads is an issue during the winter too.

I've got RT615's with about 10 autox's plus an EVO and BMW school, plus about 2k street miles. I haven't measured the tread depth in a while (can't find my damn gauge), but I would guess I have abut 4/32's or so. I don't drive on them in the winter. "Extreme" summer tires don't do well in the cold. I have a set of POS all seasons I run in the winter. I think most the tires similar to the RT615's (Drizza Star, RE01-R's, neo advans, T1r's, ect, 140ish UTGA tires) are about 5 - 10k miles tires IIRC, I could be mistaken on that, but I think I remember that was the "rating" for the 615's. A lot depends on how you use them. I imagine mine will be heat cycled out before I cord them, or get close to cording them. Also some of the max/ultra/extreme/whatever performance tires aren't supposed to be driven on/stored below freezing. I know the Yokohama Neo Advans have a warning on them about it, and I think a couple of the other "new" tires out do as well.

I have used a different Falken in the past (the Ziex 512) and they were decent to good tires - particularly for the money. So, yes, I would recommend the Falken Ziex 912 over some of the others shown there.

I had the 512's as well on my 240. The 912's are supposed to be better. I didn't have any issues with the 512's other than lack of grip. But they had good grip for an "all season".

ehh i couldnt really recommend anything out of the list, i like my Fuzion HRi's though, wet weather is nothing to them, good treadwear, decent handling, good grip in wet/dry (245/45/17).

the Direzzas.. lets see, i had them as my first set for about a year, average mileage/ wear and tear. dry grip was pretty good, wet grip not so hot. i never had an issue with noise or anything, only complaint is they didnt last as long as i expected, and wet weather traction kinda sucked. oh i was running 205/45/17" on all fours too. tirerack.com is where i research a lot of the stuff before i decide on what to buy. reasonable prices too.

i did recommend the evs100's because an old school buddy had'em on his thunderbird, tiny little tires, and they hooked up in anything. but..the treadwear on those things

base your decision on your driving style, bout all i can really say. im sticking with good all-season tyres, i like to ride around aimlessly a lot

i ran HRi for about a year and was very impressed by the wet weather traction. the tires never noticed water on the road. it performed just as it did on dry pavement. it's the only tire that i've ever used that i felt completely safe on when driving in the rain.

the only thing i didn't like was the noise that developed once the tread wore down.

overall a good all around tire.

Bleh, Fuzion tires are bottom of the barrel Bridgestone tires. But I suppose for the money, and compared to the junk tires usually on S13's I suppose it will make people see a night and day difference.

IMO, for more conclusive research I recommend TireRack's Testing Results. Only tiff I have with TireRack is they won't bring on Falken tires which makes no sense to me. But the 912s are certainly an improvement over the 512 design.

Pssst - everyone asking for tire reccomendations...do the following exercise and work from here:

Rank the following 1-5 (5 being most important to you), but use each ranking only once (can't rank everything a 5 since tires are a compromise just like a car)...

Dry Grip Wet Grip / inclimateLife/TreadwearNoise/ComfortCost

If you rank all those, it's much easier to get a clear picture for yourself and anyone trying to assist you on which tires you should be looking at.

Also, keep in mind that nothing on your car will affect its performance as mucha s the tires you select. Period. They're the only things touching the ground. Think about that for a second...that means that they're the only thing putting all the suspension, engine, chassis and drivetrain money's your spending to the ground...wouldn't you want them to dothe best job they can?

Don't cheap out - and if you do, don't get mad about how the car behaves.

PS - snow and ice..these are completley different things. Be specific. Chances are, if you see true snow and ice combined..you need winter tires. Period.-Chet
