Try leading by example.
He said that because using a laptop to game isn't the best way to game. You have higher prices and lower performance than a PC because of the compact form. So it would be like having a fast moped (laptop) and racing (gaming) with it. To get it to be on par with a racing (gaming) car (PC) it will cost you much more and it still won't be as fast.Pento240sx wrote:Que?elwesso wrote:Isn't having a gaming laptop kind of like saying you want a racing moped?
And that's why...RCA wrote:I did.
Last 5 hardware questions asked on Computers / Electronics:
I understand. I would go with the ASUS based on the links provided with out doing any special research on my own.Pento240sx wrote:Ohhh I see. Well the only things is that a gaming laptop have the grapic cards and other little more things, plus I could take it anywhere I go and I know that a Gaming Desktop would work are much better because they are bigger and can process faster. But I want something portable.
I have an Asus N80vn-x5 and I love it. It has an Nvidia GeForce GT 9650m 1GB VRAM, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, 4GB RAM, came with 64-bit Vista, but I put 7 on it. I've never had any problem with it playing any of my games. I played modern warfare 2 with moderate settings without a problem. So naturally, I'm going to tell you to get an Asus. I wouldn't get one from Best Buy, go to newegg.com and/or tigerdirect.com and look. They have way bigger variety and it willl be cheaper. I think mine was a little over $1,000 from newegg. I had to pay tax for some reason-TN residents have to pay tax there. I've always been curious about the Toshiba Qosmio series. They look really good on paper.Pento240sx wrote:Hello again niconauts. Well in the market for a gaming laptop price range up to $1300.
So far I looked into these laptops:

Alienware M11x and M15x

Well at least I know what not to get now. I'm leaning more into the Asus. I been reading a lot of good reviews in the new model. Now I have to find a website that will finance me with no interestes for atleast 6 months.sentrastace wrote:DO NOT GET THE TOSHIBA QOSMIO.
it's a $1600 piece of crap.
BF got it for serious gaming, its pretty and all BUT
screen bubbled from heat, he sent it back, they sent him a new one, screen bubbled again. WTF kind of craftsmanship is that?
PLUS it blue screened like crazy for no apparent reason...also think heat issues.
customer service was no help, he even bought the extended warranty and customer service told him the warranty didnt cover the bubbled screen, which happened < 2 weeks after purchase. Gotta be kidding me.
Let me know what you find, looking for a replacement that DOESNT suck.
Good call! I haven't heard anything good or bad about them. That's crazy tho. Def go with the Asus bro. Way better brand.sentrastace wrote:DO NOT GET THE TOSHIBA QOSMIO.

The fact is you will NEVER find a laptop where this won't hold true. Unless you're shopping from the future, even high-end gaming laptops will become outdated fast. It's the tradeoff for portability. BUT, like PMQ said, outdated isn't the same as useless, and it'll be a good while before you'll be facing a situation where you can't play new games at all. If you want a gaming laptop, you have to accept the fact that it won't be top-end forever, and that you won't be able to gradually upgrade it like a desktop. If you can't handle that, get a desktop.PoorManQ45 wrote:don't listen to the people saying it will be outdated in a year.
