Ok here's the score: like my screen name indicates i have so far been one of those sad little losers that spent too much money on the look of his car and damn near nothing on the engine. well now i'm broke and need to sell my rice mobile. i'm going to pick up a 89-93 240sx.what i'm looking for now is information on what to look for when shopping. and information on their reliability would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Welcome to NICO!

Common problems off the top of my head:1. Timing chain guides - They produce a ticking in front of the engine bay... easily remedied. 2. Spoiler rust - The OEM spoilers tend to develop rust under them. It's a pain to fix.. 3. High mileage - A lot of S13s (89-94 240sx's) have high miles. Check for maintenance records!

These are just the basics... when I got my car, I had to replace the clutch, master cylinder and slave cylinder, and the brake master cylinder. Stuff like that is bound to happen because, after all, these cars are at least 11 years old! Anything obvious I'm missing, guys?

Good luck!

Hmm... that's the first I'd heard about the lights freezing shut. Then again, we usuallly don't have problems with freezing out here in So Cali. If you want to swap the lights, you could do the Silvia front end conversion, which is a little more work, or you could drop in some projector housings. A friend of mine had them and they worked great, but he's since sold the hardware to another member on this fourm.

Search around, starting with our vendors... someone should be able to help you out!
