im trying to put my new chrome shift knob on but i cant get the old one off. i tried with both hands to screw it off but it wont budge. what do i do?

Go to the dealer and ask for the parts diagram and that should help you right then and there. Or you can try to see if its covered in the service manual: http://Nicoclub.com/FSM

The knob does screw off. You just need to break it loose. Best method is probably to wrap it in a towel and use a pair of chanel-locks. Unless you don't care about ruining it, in which case, just go to town.

can i use a vice grip?

Sure. Whatever pliers you've got. Just remember to put something over the knob so it doesn't get torn up if you intend to hang onto it.

yeah it's already all torn up and ugly. that's why i'm changing it. bought me a chrome one with red markings off amazon.

was going to try to tackle it today but its too freakin cold out and the snow is as high as the hood of the car. will try it another day when its less treacherous. can't wait for summer!!!!
