bought a Maf for a series 2 motor. I have a series 1. Alot of people say that it will work but the Maf plug on my harness has 4 wires. But my maf has 3 pins.

What do i do?

The Q45 MAF that i'm using only has 3 wires too. If i remember correctly, 2 of the wires on the series 1 MAF are Ground wires so i used the ground wire that goes back to either the ecu or the white plug. I'm almost sure it goes to the ECU. I haven't started my car yet so i can't say if that how it should be or not.

heh, temping but time is a issue right now. hence the HELP! in the subject.

Ok, T_love. I just re-read your post and according from what u said 2 of the wires are a ground and you just used 1 of the wires. What are the colors of the 2 ground wires?

ok looking at the maf the pin closest to the air filter goes to power relay or ecu signal? cuz the middle is the ground, correct?

i wish i had seen your replies earlier, i would have checked for you. I think there is one black wire which is the ground connected to the many other ground wires in the harness. The two wires that are shielded are signal and ground going to the ECU. the other wire is the power wire. I'm saying this from memory but i'm pretty sure that's how i wired mine.

According to the wiring diagram, the ground are Black and the other one is (W/L) that should be white/blue? either way thats the ground wire coming from the ECU and its shielded along with the signal wire(orange and something)

i THINK it is

signal output, ground, power(11-14v) going from left to right looking at the MAF itself. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks

bringing up this old thread once again

anyone know the wiring pinout for the RB25 series 1 MAF? it is the 4 wire one. the maf is the same as the rb20 as well.

it is mentioned above that there are 2 grounds, obviously 1 signal wire, and 1 12v.

obviously the signal wire must be shielded, and most likely one of the grounds is. the remaining unshielded would be the 12v and the 2nd ground. could anyone tell me the order of the wires and describe the orientation?

thanks!

The computer that i had stored all that info on blew up so i can't find the exact info. if you just want the colors of the wires, they are posted above in on of my replies. If nobody gets the info for you by tomorrow night, i can just unwrap my wires and tell you how i wired mine. Just PM or IM me tomorrow if you still want me to do it for you.
