I have a 2006 M35. It was recently in an accident. I need to take it to their repair shop. However, it has an issue where it does not start. It will only start on Neutral. To stop it from running, I have to remove the fuel pump fuse as it will not shot off. I believe there is something wrong with the park neutral switch. However, I'm not sure how to find it. I did not find it under the transmission. I called the dealer and they say the switch is by the shifter inside the car.. or part of the shifter. It took them a while to even give me that answer. They were not sure. I guess I may have to buy a new shifter from the junk yard. However, I needed to know for sure so
I can troubleshoot and try to get my car started the correct way.

I have a 2006 M35X...

I did find these pictures:

The starting issue is more likely a bad park neutral switch. Please help.

Correction, it's called the Parking/Safety Neutral switch.

So, I figured the issue may be on the park/neutral switch. I called the dealer, and they did not know where the switch is located but said it comes with shifter. I got a another shifter on ebay, but it seem different from mines. All the internal parts the same, and I saw a small ECU box with the shift lock. I figure this was the park/neutral switch. I put it on my old shifter and replace the switch from it, the car would not display P... for park. It will show me R N D and everything except for P. I then figured I still have the issue. I did recall once the car starts in neutral, it will not turn off. I guess I can try putting it on P to see if it starts. I do recall it wouldn't shut off either and it had to do with the car not going on park.

I will either need another shifter, or take car to dealer cause something may be wrong with car ECU

What do you think?

Okay, I got the issue resolved. The PArk Neutral switch is inside the transmission. After fiddling with everything, I discovered all of this. The dealer and junk yard was no help!

The Rod slecter was off, so the car never went into park all the way. This is why it would not start on Park... or display a P on the display. The car was stuck between R and P. I just took the rod slecter off. Then adjust the nut under the shifter. Just bring it close to the transmission. Then it works!

I my car can now go to park, no issues.

I just need to fix the push start issue now, as the car wont stop if it is started. I believe the ignition switch prolly got damaged while messing with it.
