I'm trying Replace a bent rear lower control arm. Got the replacement, got the 2 bolts out. Got the cotter pin and nut off the ball joint, but I've used every ounce of strength I had and ever bludgeoning device I owned. I can't get the damn thing to drop out!!!! There has to be an easier way to do this! Some kind of ball joint remover or something. Someone please enlighten me. I feel defeated. And this friggin thing is the only thing keeping me from driving. This ride-sharing with my wife won't work for long.

-Thanks in advance!

Or you could use a ball joint tool from the loan-a-tool program at the parts store. A whack with a BFH will also work.

if your trying to get the ball joint away from the hub assembly arm and then get the ball joint out... get a ball joint seperator you will have to use a hammer with it but it will seperate and to get the ball joint out use a ball joint press tool like he said from the loan a tool program at AZ its 100bucks to rent but you get the money back.

That's just the deposit, you get the money back when you return the tool. So, really the tool is free to use.

Autozone and I think Murrays discount parts store, loan tools. I know that Autozone loans them for free around where I live.

Or just go out and but the tool I think I got mine at Sears, by Lisle tools, comes in at kit AKA pickle fork, or ball joint& tie rod fork. Costed me around 40 bucks. I take it to junkyard were trip I make when working on suspension stuff.

Or old school way use 2 large hammers, hold one against the part and hit it with the other. Have your part supported on something. I could never get this to work for me, my dad is good with this method
