Hey guys. I'm planning on dropping in some forged pistons this winter for ease of mind, but I want to know if I NEED to retune. Right now I'm tuned for stock compression of 9.5 but I'm planning on going either 8.8 or 9.0 with .020" over.

I guess my main concern is if I will be doing damage to the engine by not retuning it for the lower compression. I understand that I will be losing power but I'm not sure if it will cause engine damage.

Reason I'm asking about it not being retuned is that I have an EFI Specialist rom tune and the tuner 1) lives in Greenland 2) is going to be busy until February 2011 or something like that

So, WD, AZ, or anyone knowledgeable, please learn me.

Going from higher compression to lower, no.

You will be fine, I did the same thing. Have 9.0:1 now but it's still tuned for 9.5:1.
