i was replacing the fan tempature switch on my 95 ka. my wife trying to be as involved in the 240's as i am attempts to help. as i was refilling the radiator with coolant she offered to remove the pressure release bolt on the upper radiator hose connector. it amazed me that she picked out the right socket, extension and so on so i sat back and enjoyed a brew while she helped. i take my eyes off of her for 5 seconds and i hear a POP. and the much dreaded "uh oh". come to find out she busted the top of the bolt off, she had turned the socket wrench in the wrong direction and basically torqued it right off... i had hoped that it would not leak but it does..... i dont have the funds to drill it out and its a little lower than the lip so i cant grab it with vice grips of needle nose pliers..... so how do i patch it. will jb weld hold under that pressure? what will?

how bad is it leaking

if its not that bad, then take it to a shop and have them drill it out, i would just replace the bolt, its cheap part

DID IT!! i tried to goto sleep but i had this idea to drill it out myself..... i wieghed the risk and looked through the fsm. i noticed that the upper coolant hose connection was one big piece with the intake manifold. so i want a new intake mani anways and figuered if i screw it up its an excuse for me to get a custom one (im married its like begging a wall.) so i started to drill and my drill slipped creating a crevice across the broke off bolt until it was kinda deep... (i kept doing it) then i grabed a flat tip and worked out the bolt, ran to autozone @ 0400. (thank gods for 24/7 autozones) and got replacement bolts. (also found out that the pressure bolt is the exact same size as the exhaust heat shield bolts). added some sealent and stuck it on now just waiting for it to set. also im trying out this new stuff by redline, the guys at autozone gave it to me free to try it out. its called wetter than wet.. its an additive to lower the temp of the coolant. it seems to work well. it lowers up to 20 deg. 20 deg isnt much but if it helps then it helps.

question? is an Greddy oil catch tank really that important? couldnt you spend like $10 and get one of those breathers and it do pretty much the same thing (keep the moisture and oil fumes out of your throttle)?

umm, well the breather will let oil mist spray out all over the engine after a while, so i would just use the catch tank or leave it connedted

holy shizz, there's a 24 hour autoparts store??? I'd love to work in a place as my 2nd job if they ever have a 24-hour location around here!

Autozone's spreading; 1st, they've bought out Parts USA/Pepboys Express store locations in 1998 & now they've just bought out ABC discount auto parts local to south jersey & converting them into more Autozones...

ah, ok we're flying off topic now...

green, i guess it can but the bellhousings are different, so no direct bolt-on... u can try asking/searching the threads:

engine talk: "rwd sr" located on the left of the screen <scroll down>

another off-topic comment: soo who's redkryptonite on this board? <seen soo many red s13s on the road, it's rediculous>

final off-topic comment: looks like i'll be joining the dark side <pepboys> in the next month (hates wearing black; but don't mind the 20% discount)
