Help:Looking at EX35

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I am seriously looking at the EX35 Journey AWD. I like to know some of the dos and don’ts about the car. I know it is extremely reliable but are there any issues that have popped up? I also like to know about the handling in bad/Snow weather.

Personally, i like the EX.the only problem in the limited space. if you are not looking for a full size SUV, EX should be good, enough power, good handling, just lack of space. that's all.

As far as how it handles in snow/bad roads, I couldn't be happier. That's why I bought it and I am not disappointed. I love the fact that it takes off in AWD - taking off from stops is almost like being on dry pavement. I used to avoid an uphill intersection on slippery roads but not anymore. It feels solid on snow covered roads. I have stock Michelins. I can't wait for more snow.

The EX is my favorite car that I have ever owned ('96 Sentra, '99 Altima, '02 Accord V-6, '06 G35x, '07 Yukon Denali)!

It is a champ in the snow and ice. I cannot wait for the next storm, I believe its the best AWD system out there for luxury cars! My father in law has an Audi with Quattro and he even said Infiniti is better! You cannot go wrong only down fall of the EX is rear leg room, but if that is not important go with the EX.

In terms of reliability nothing bad to note. I have an '08 and it had a couple of recalls (fuel pump and steering rack issue) but I suspect its due to first year of production and those issues have been ironed out.

By the way everyone that sits in my car loves it and is really impressed by the vehicle! It is my daily commuter (420 miles per week) and I love it.

I'm looking at one too, but not AWD as I will be in Texas.

From what I can tell, the EX is more of a station wagon than an SUV. That's a good thing, for me as I'm looking for a more car like ride. Having said that, the AWD seems to be getting good reviews. In Canada (and I think Europe?) AWD is the only option.

Here is some information from Canada: http://www.drivingtelevision.c...initi

Please let me know how your research progresses; we're both looking at the same vehicle for possible purchase.

Also in Texas so bought RWD around Christmas. Rest of family fleet is Acura, BMW. Love this car bought for the wife. Have owned a lot of cars and for a daily driver this is excellent. Also about same performace specs as my car when in college; 65 GTO 4 speed, limited slip etc. but Soooo much better ride, handling, mileage, comfort. Cars have come a ways in 40+ yrs! Then again think the GTO was like $2,800 out the door new.

of all the cars ive owned and driven, the EX35 isnt the best, and by best i mean overeall comfort, performance etc etc, i would honestly have to say the S550 is more of a drivers car...and the best SUV i've ever driven was definitely the GL550 (it's so big, yet everything feel so right! + but MB navigation really sucks)

however, at that price point you're comparing apples to oranges.

anyway, the EX35 is a great daily car, my drive into brooklyn everyday from Long Island has been so much more enjoyable than when i did it in the TL. And yes, the car is actually very good in snow. I know some people have said otherwise, but having had the EX right after that Northeast blizzard a month ago, I can say had i still been in the TL I may not be here typing this.

the downs (to be fair there is an ACTUAL thread/topic somewhere that lists everything they wish Infiniti had or had done better - try searching for that )

but my personal pet peeves are:1) This is the first car I've had that didnt have a black (in infiniti's case graphite color) interior. I went with stone thinking that Wheat (having had it as a kid in one of my dad's cars) would be a better choice because wheat is so hard to clean. Turns out stone is also pretty hard to clean....in the sense that it picks up smudges very easily

2) this one alot of people have said, the OEM all season floor mats are great looking, but not very functional, unless you were a size 4-6 womens.....being 10.5-11 Mens, the mats arent great for me

3) the way the menus are set up in the navigation. I find myself pretty tech savvy, but the navi is not organized in a very....pragmatic way. Sure they have pretty much dedicated a button to every function, but the clutter is bad.....and i hate looking down when i'm driving, but you can't relaly feel it out on the console because there are ALOT of buttons.

4) i hate that when i park in a lot, if the car next to me is a mid-sized sedan all the way to a big SUV, my car will always look anemic. - this is not a BAD thing per se, because it's the size i was looking for, but i feel like i'm driving a barbied up CR-V.....on steroids LOL

5) the low end power curve on this car is also kind of lacking. I know this is mostly an ECU thing, but it's just very frustrating, the acceleration curve is TOO smooth at low rpms....i wanna be able to a WOT option, and no, turning of VDC and stomping on it is not really a great alternative. I wish the car would behave the whole time like it does when it hits the middle of its power curve, you just feel like the car keeps pulling and pulling....but from a standstill, it's not as exciting as i would have liked it

6) i wish if they were going to make dedicated buttons for every function that they focused on a media button instead of a million buttons for camera, status info etc etc, scrolling through your different audio source options is a pain in the butt

i know this sounds horrible, but this is only just the small things, and they arent that big of a deal, i love this car....but you wanted to hear what you may not like.

i could go on for twice as long about everything i like

but all you really need to know in terms of driving experience, this is truly a drivers car. second to cars way beyond it's league.
