Is the difference between a 2008 G35 and 2009+ G37, the engine and transmission?

I plan on using this car for long commutes and want to know how comfortable the seats are and if anyone has test driven the other competitors like BMW 328i or Acura TL.

I would say so.....
We have a 08 G35X and it is very comfortable on trips!!
Our 08 can run on regular (I run prem. tho, but there were times when prem. was not available.). The 09 has to have prem.

The G37 is generally a more refined car than the G35. Unless you insist on a manual transmission, the G37X is the best of the bunch. All wheel drive improves traction under all conditions and helps tame the cars twitchy rear end.

My wife and I did 700 miles in one day and I did 300 solo one evening in our 2008 G37S. We still felt like human beings on arrival. Make sure you fit the seats. I have heard some large people complain that the side bolsters are too close together. That would be uncomfortable.

Of the optional packages, the most important one is the Premium package. Without it, the car really isn't a luxury ride. I also got the navigation system, but more for the rear view camera than the navigation. Computer graphics, driven by steering angle, are superimposed on the image. They work so well that you can parallel park without looking outside the car.

Between a 2008 G35 sedan and a 2009 G37 sedan, there isn't a huge difference in refined luxury....more like slightly tweaked luxury.
The Sport seat base is what was uncomfortable to me.
More so in the sedan than the coupe.
As for the Prem option being the most important, yes, in the 09 G37 sedan because that is the only way to get Heated Seats. Not true with the 08 G35 sedan. Thought I should clarify since you are considering both. Our 08 G35X sedan has heated seats and sunroof, but no prem. package.
Some have also complained about the 7 speed AT in the 09 G37.
I believe that the 09 G37 is rated a little better in MPG, but again, you have to run Prem.

I have a 2009 G37 sedan sport and I'm a big Guy. Yes, the seats were uncomfortable for a while...but it does get better. I'd go with the newest car you can afford.

I have both (07 G35s and 08 G37s)and there is really not much of a difference other than engine. G37 is less "jerky" than the G35 but is a tad noisier. Interior is the same with very little differences in electronic options throughout the 07+ years.

Premium includes the back-up camera on 2011s. I have it without Nav. Don't know when that started.
