Well, I guess this is what happens when these are your only cars. Since hybrid blew his turbo, he has no form of transportation now (sold the bronco...).

Does anyone have a turbo with the scribing "Nissan 16v 12" on their turbo? If you have one laying around, first of all, it is rumored (looking this up still to confirm) you have a very early R32 model RB20DET. These turbos have smaller banjos for the oil lines, and are not ball bearing. The newer 20's have the scribing "Nissan 16v 10" on them. This is what mine has, and is why it is not a direct bolt on for him.

If we can get around not using my turbo (so I will have something to work with), this would be great. Otherwise we are going to have to source my banjo from somewhere and use mine.

So if someone has a Nissan 16v 12 taking up space... let us know!

Too bad the front end took up all the money... he can just replace instead of upgrade.

looks like I have one. I don't know what condition it's in but I didn't notice any shaft play and the blades are not comming into contact with the housing.

Thanks for the offer! He called me today and said he found what he needs to make the oil lines fit, and he will just use my turbo. Looks like I will be looking for another unit... upgrade maybe....

Hey, we have to help each other out you know!?! I need a wiring harness, and he said I can have the one he has at the shop and the ecu. Sounds fair to me.

I spoke with him a few min ago, and he was about to pull it out of the garage with my turbo fitted and new braded oil supply/return lines (made a set for me too... sweet) with Aeroquip -AN fittings.

He said he might jump on the site tonight and do some updates. The pics of the blown turbo are going up too, and by the sound of it, that thing is ugly (don't think you'll want it Project). Work has been taking up most of his time recently he said...

Well, Hybrid called me last night and the new turbo is starting to make the same noise. I don't see how he could kill a turbo so fast. It is making a high pitched shrill/squealing noise under boost... could it be something else?

I am far from a tubo expert, so this is just a guess. Is oil making it to the turbo bearing? If there is some sort of blockage or something that could be oil starving the turbo's and causing them to fail.

Another thought might be a clogged cat if he is using one.

Yup I would check that out. Take the turbo off and crank the motor and see of oil comes out of it. That or he has some crap left in his motor thats tearing up the motor.

He's got a gauge and the motor has oil pressure. I would imagine the feed should be fine as he just upgraded to SS lines and -AN fittings. Thanks for the ideas, might as well check anyway.

Yeah, sounds like a blockage in the oil feed

I wouldn't think it is a oil blockage, since the sound only happens under high boost (above 10psi). Any other ideas?

Since my first guess seemed reasonable I will shoot out another idea. My understanding was that the turbo's on RB's were prone to blowing the turbo at 12-14psi, because of the ceramic wheel spinning too fast and shattering to peices. How much boost are you running on the turbo?Just throwing out ideas here so maybe someone who knows what the real problem is will respond for you.

Thanks a lot for the help... other people's ideas are always good for getting the old brain going.

Well, check this out... I got a message from Hybrid tonight saying it must have been a fluke or something because there is no more noise. Crazy stuff... He is running 13psi by the way (no boost controller... 3" turbo back, pod filter and no cat).
