HELP KADE wont start

So after i decided that my distributor was going out because once the car was fully warmed up it would cut out at 4k one day then 3k the next and jsut kept getting worse. So someone who had a similar problem once on a ka told me that it did that when teh distributor was going out and to replace it. So i bought another distributor off of someone. Then I pulled my distributor from my car, again my car started all the way up until i pulled my dist. I put the other one in and got everything hooked up. I knew the timing was going to be off but not enough for the car to not start. I went to crank it and it wouldnt start. It cranks over like it wants to start but isnt getting a spark but is gettting gas. So I went to put my old dist. back in and got it all hooked up and went to start it and it would do the same thing. I dont know if this would make a difference but someone tried starting my car with out hte dist. in. So now im stuck on why my car wont start. Its something to do with the dist, but i dont know what. I had dandrift there helping me and he couldnt figure it out either. Basically I know that its not getting a spark to the plugs or anything. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRICIATED as i just want to get my car running again.

look up timing and distributor in tutorials. get timing right before anymore trouble shooting.
