Hey everyone, so the 240sx is having some issues. She starts up and warms up just fine, doesn't overheat, but on the highway it feels almost like the clutch is slipping and it stutters like crazy like the engine isn't putting any power down. Going up a hill in 5th the car loses a LOT of speed, if I'm cruising at 65mph the speed will drop to 50mph. I can downshift and try to maintain speed but it still sputters. To me it feels like the clutch is slipping, but the clutch is fine so it is another issue. I'm thinking it may be the ECU pulling timing, but it is losing a LOT of power for it to just be the ECU.

Any ideas where to start? I'm thinking ignition/distributor first. Any pointing in the right direction would be great!

Driving 2 hours back to school saturday, hopefully it holds up so I can get it on a lift at school and give it a whole lookover.

If you havent had the plugs changed in a while it could be that. My civic spit and sputtered bad and it turned out to be the spark plugs. Check distributor cap for cracks also.

Thanks Awgdawg, It turned out to be faulty wiring to the MAF, patched it and now it runs like it should.

I'm planning on overhauling the ignition system when I get the money, new wires & cap.
