While i was instaling the r33 ebrake cable on the 300zx hub assemply, As i was finishing off, i was tightening the size 12mm nut behind the dust shield, when i over torqued it. so the bolt broke.
Q: Can i still use the ebrake with that broken piece?
Q:If its vital, is it repairable?
Q: would you suggest continuing the swap and ignore the issue until another dust shield comes by and THEN fix the issue?
To me its just a broken bolt on the shield, or can i weld the metal piece from the ebrake cable onto the shield as if there were a nut and bolt there? I need options and suggestions please i havent driven the car in 30days (literally) :frown:

If its a load bearing part, fix it, if its just a bolt to keep something from rattling around, don't worry about it, if you can't tell the difference, stop trying to modify your damn car.

On a more helpful note... if you have a bolt broken off in a hole and need to get it out, Easy Out's are anything but... but they do work, good luck.

So... In best words F***k it. Just get it over with and move on. and there is no easy way out so do what you gotta do and do it. BTW this is my 3rd 240 ive owned. my 1st i was scared to even switch the rims on it. but like my friend said, after the 1st one, you loose sentiment and you will do things that you would never do to the 1st. and i got T-boned by a 74 yr old lady in a 2002 pt cruiser. meaning if i still had my 1st, i wouldnt be crying as often for little issues like a broken bolt in the rear right side dust shield meant to keep a wire in possition rather than rattling around. I didnt know if there was a dire pirpose to it that would prevent me from using my ebrake or completing my swap. In i learned 1 thing about this swap its; make sure 100% you have everything you need for the task because once you put ur car on jacks and remove parts, you wont be able to drive it till complete. now im stuck driving my wifes 02 honda oddessy to work. Love the vtec, hate the gas vacuming. let me no whats up sex appeal

If you could put up a pic of the bolt you broke and where it is located, I'm sure we could tell you if its deathly critical to the operation of the car.

its the bolt that attaches the ebrake sleeve to the dust shield. on the otherside there is a ramp like structure that the ebrake cable rails onto. gimme a few and ill take a pick.
