HELP Internet Explorer Experts

I'm looking for a way to disable the tool bar (5 buttons, My Recent Docs, etc) to the left side of the image (see below), as well as limit the directories and files that can be seen/selected/accessed from a specific browser instance. Without changing "users" or limiting the users permissions.

Do a search for a program called XPLite. Not sure if that will work, but check it out.

I appreciate the suggestions, but given the current timeline and the thousands of systems I'd have to re-image, a browser change isn't an option.

All we have to do is locate the directory where it has that tool bar...... ALl they are is shortcuts, im looking right now for it.....

Just delete the short cuts and it should work.....

right click ur toolbar abd click on customize. then remove them. idk if thatll work. i use firefox =/

It's a HAPPY day I found/figured out a way to do it with regedit's.

Registry Settings User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Comdlg32]System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Comdlg32]Value Name: NoFileMRU, NoBackButton, NoPlacesBarData Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)Value Data: (0 = display, 1 = remove)

Just kept asking questions, and using the info several people gave me. I've tried it on both an XP and a Win2000 box and it works. Regedit's are easy and doable, but "loading" new software wouldn't be. It's a good day in my world.

Theres nothing that can't be fixed (or seriously effed up) by playing with the registry.

Alright now that rex's question has been answered, does anyone want to tell me how to hide user accounts in windows xp (you know how accounts are usually displayed in the welcome screen...but the administrator account isn't...well yeah I need to hide a few accounts)

So you want to get it so where you can click on SOME of them.....

I know how you can have the traditional login, like on win98, but you cant get in just by hitting cancel! god how pointless was that!
