HELP installing warn premium, '94 xe v6

I got my old autolocking hubs off and have been following the instructions listed here http://www.nissanoffroad.net/how_to/hubs/hub.asp

well, old stuff is off, but when i dry fit the new hubs, they are not bumping flush against the old hub base.

I tried pulling the wheel bearing cover, but that didn't help. I think it's the center part of a spindle that's held in by the wheel bearing lock washer... but I'm not sure I'm supposed to remove that.

Anyone done one of these replacements and can tell me what I'm missing?

THis is what's left in my assembly... not sure if the silver deal in the center has to come out, or what.
