i installed an obx shifter in my 91 240sx and i took it around the block to test and it was fine but then i took it to about 5000 RPMs i noticed once i stopped that some fluid had leaked around the shifter area not a lot but a good amount. it only happens when i rev high.

can anyone help??

does an obx shifter mount the same as a factory shifter?.. meaning 6 bolts hold the shift plate down and there is a rubber boot on the top of the plate

looking at that set up I would say its coming from the gasket under that bolt on peice from the aftermarket shifter. It probably got squeezed out when you put those nut plates on. I think it is leaking when you accelerete hard not nessesarly at the rpm range. Just because of the extreme forward momentum the fluid is sloshing up against that area. its gotta be either that gasket or the boot you tie wrapped on.

yea cause once enough of it runs out your gears are gonna be running dry and your bearings may over heat due to lack of lubrication.

have you isolated the problem to one or the other as the leak?

its gotta be either the gasket under the plate you installed or the shift boot thats leaking the bushing is enclosed and designed to get coated with fluid during normal operation. it is covered at the top with the boot.
