Hey All

So tonight I open my rear driver side passenger door and I noticed that the lining / moulding / rubber surround is coming off. I stuck it back on by hand a few times already but I would like to know if there is more of a permanent fix to the issue

Here are some pics of what I am talking about:

Sorry for the crappy pics but as you can see the lining is coming off the pillar. Can I take some regular adhesive and stick it back down or do I need something special for it. I tried searching on the boards but I didnt find anything.

Any kind of help would be appreciated please!!

Thanks

you shouldnt need adhesive, you just need to give it some slack at the bottom of that molding, where it goes hidden under some plastic, pull it out like maybe a half inch, to an inch, pop the rest back on and that should solve the problem

and if that doesnt work, i would do a drop or 2 or superglue, if the molding is in fact loose. i know mine comes off easily if you pull on it but it never comes off by itself

The weatherstripping is held on by friction when it is pressed back onto the body metal. The part of the weatherstripping that slides onto the metal is actually a thin piece of metal covered in rubber. Sometimes that metal can become un-bent and it reduces the friction. You can just bend the weatherstripping together so the slit on the weatherstripping where the metal slides into is tight and close together.

I don't know if that makes any sense, but I couldn't find a picture in the FSM to support it. Maybe someone else can describe it better.

I use to have the same problem, and did exactly what fueler said to put it back. If you really want it to stay, maybe using double side tape would work. Not necessary all the way but a few spots to apply the tape.

The lower half door frame does not have the weather seal. I was thinking to add the same seal wherever it allows, but never did it. I guess it is not worth the money and effort. It will not reduce the overall noise noticeabley.

Guys

Thanks for the advice, going to try what fueler said now and then head down to my local automotive joint and see what I can find to stick it down if the slack does not work
