I love my M45 dearly..it has everything I could want and more, it's really smart maybe too smart..BUT it has one annoying smart *** feature I could do without and I want to change that. The M45 comes with a system called ITD Infiniti Torque Demand. This whatever the hell determines the load on the engine and adjusts power input. Say your driving up a hill and you know how a regular car slows down? Well the M45 maintains that speed without hitting the gas. Nice right? NO! This system has way too much control. When I hit the gas on a inclined road from standstill it does'nt require me to place more input ie. hit the gas more. And when I'm on a downhill it slows the input. So everytime I hit the gas I get a different acceleration if I input the same throw in the pedal. This is pissing me off because I can't determine a takeoff and it took the driver out of the car. The car drives me, not me driving it! The question is can I disconnect this ITD by pulling a fuse in its system? Maybe in the fusebox? Thanks!

Is it related to VDC? You might try turning it off and see if the ITD goes away too... I read through the owner's manual online and didn't see anything about ITD - so this may definately be a dealer question.

I had a massey ferguson tractor made in 1944 that had the EXACT same feature. well close anyway. the "throttle" on my tractor was actually an engine speed control. An intermediate device actually controlled the throttle adjusting it for me so that the on hills up or down a certain setting would always be the same forward speed (handy for spraying crops).

If your car is anything like this, then I'll bet it's not an easy thing to bypass. I've never been under the hood on one, but I suspect from your description that there isn't a direct linkage from your foot to the throttle body.

All new lux o sport cars are drive by wire, currently only the accelerator is ecu controlled, soon brakes [partial enhancements already in place] and steering will be electric and isolated. With GPS, cameras, and radar you don't need a windshield, just install a giant air bag across the front and recline listening to satellite radio.

These systems enhance the physical/mental skills of inferior humans. {average people who are not professional race drivers}. Afterall it is a machines job to protect ignorant owners from hurting themselves..........democratic party line......engineers just do as they are told.........make it happen of get out.

Haven't heard too many compliants about the brake system which helps couch potatos who don't do leg presses, stop the car 20 feet shorter. Well they do whine about the great brakes wearing fast and dusting.

Perhaps...I've heard similar complaints about the same kind of thing on the new Mercedes Benz E-class.
