HELP INFINITE EX35 ENGINE COLD WEATHER

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Just find this problem recently

When i start my car in the morning ( really cold weather in Canada , probably warm it up for about 2 minutes) and when you shift your transmission to P, the engine doesnt return to normal speed so that you have to drive the car while hitting your break. but if the engine temperature is normal, i dont have this issue, Does someone know what is going on ? Also, my serve engine soon light is on but dealer told me it is caused by your auto-mannual switch transmission and if you only use auto transmission, you are OK .

If the Check engine light is on, that is not a good sign. Most of the time loose gas cap can throw this light on. In your case, I am not even sure if the transmission issue you have is related to the check engine light?

When I had issue with my transmission , unable to use manual mode or DS, I did not have any check engine light on. I went to the dealer and they replaced a transmission sensor.

Back to your issue. So when you start the car, the engine RPM is high for 2 mins?
How high? Normally, if it is very cold, the RPM stays high past 1k RPM for more than 2 minutes... You should not be stepping on brake inorder to drive the car initially when it is cold. Try shift gears and try the Manual mode and shift gears.
Look for the smal screen on center dash if the gear number changes.

Check Engine Soon Light should be check by your local shop.

Thanks AWGD8

Yes, i will call back the dealer and I think ( do I still have warranty with my ex35 it is 2010 ) see if they can replace it

For the engine speed issue, I just want to know if everybody has similar problem. For my old car, I start engine and let it warm up for 2 minutes and then I shift transmission to D drive, engine speed is normal (below 1k) but my infinite is different, If you shift you transmission to D drive, the engine speed is above the normal speed ( around , 11k) so the car moves so fast but the funny thing is the engine speed dereases when car gets warm .......hummmmmm

Depending on how cold outside, it is normal to have higer RPM on idling on startup. Looks like yours is normal (you meant 1,100K RPM?) ,but I would check check engine light. This might be a different issue. Warranty bumper to bumper covers from the time you bought the car 4 years or 46,000 miles. Engine and transmission i believe 6 years or 70,000 miles. (Which ever comes first for bumper to bumper and drivetrain)

Before you go to the dealer, tighten up your gas cap and drive another 5-10 miles.
If someone knows how to reset your ecu ( remove battery cable) and replaced back and see if the check engine light will shows up again after driving 10+ miles.
Sometimes, cold weather makes some sensor acts crazy and throws codes on initial startup, but tends to be normal afterward. Also , autozone can check your code for free.

You bought an Infiniti, not an INFINITE.
