Replaced my I30 16" rims running the original Goodyear 215/55-16 tires on 16x6.5 rims with the same size G35 rims running Bridgestone Turanza 205/65-16 tires. 40mm offset.

I used the calculator and get a difference in ride height, tire width, a 4% speedometer error, etc. My questions is what impact (other than speedometer error) will this have on my car? Any chance of drivetrain damage? Am I sacrificing safety because of the decreased tire width?

I like the ride the new tires/rims provide but want to make sure this is a safe alternative.

Thanks!

People change tire sizes all the time with no major problems. Just be aware that there is a change, and you'll be ahead of the curve.

No real chance of drivetrain damage from simply altering tire OD by such a small % point

The Bridgestone probably grip better than the Goodyears anyways, so I'd say as long as load index is equal to or greater than the old tires, you're good to go!

Thank you...I just needed a "sanity check" to insure I wasn't doing something stupid!
