Post

This morning I went to drive my car and when I went to shift into first it was REALY notchy. Shifting into second and thrid was also kinda notchy. The first thing I noticed right away was that my clutch had A LOT of play, like depressing the clutch pedal didnt have any effect until the last little bit. I had to drive my car about 80 kms to work, and throughout the drive it got worse and worse, it felt like there was clutch fluid leaking, and my clutch pedal had more and more play(shifting got more notchy as well). The last time I shifted into first I could barly get it in gear. Anyways when I got to work I cheaked the clutch master Cylinder and it was prety much empty, there was just a tiny bit of fluid way at the bottom, not even in the holding part, like was down at the metal thing. I followed the line from the cylinder untill where it leaves the engine bay and I couldent find any leaks....Does anyone know what this is? Is this my clutch or is it some kind of a leak or slave cylinder? I dont really have any cash to get this fixed, it this something that is easy to fix my self? Im kinda stuck at work right now cuz I dont want to drive my car, any info would be hugly appreciated!

Thanks

George

chilliwack! pretty close to my home! anyways there is a slave cyl. attatched to the trans. that cly. depresses your clutch fork. check the connection there and there is also a bleeder nipple on the slave cly. as well. check both.

check your slave as allthrottle said but also look up under your dash where the master comes through the fire wall see if you have fluid there as well.

BINGO! Thx NISTEC you just saved me putting in the salve cylinder! I just got home from buying a slave and saw your reply so i cheaked under the dask and shure enough there was a fair amount of brak fluid where the master comes in. Back to town to get my self a master cylinder...are these hard to install?

not really make sure you bench bleed it before you put it in. and have someone help you bleed it again once its installed to purge out the air at the fitting. you crack open the line at the master just a little while someone is depressing the pedal just like you would if your were bleeding the slave bleeder port. but since you already have air in the system you are probably goig to have to bleed the whole system at the slave. on your car that can be a real pain in the rear. once you do the master bleed if you still dont have good pedal your gonna have to do the whole system. be prepared to be there awhile in that case. when you crawl under the car to do the bleed from the slave take a good look at the slave cyl for leaks. those can tend to leak too.
