Good evening,

Hoping someone can help here. I had a part underneath my 2006 Infiniti M35 fall off due to rust. I've been searching the forums and service manuals and have not been able to identify it. Can someone look at the attached image and advise? It's directly below what I think is the splash guard on the right hand side. It's grey with a rectangular pattern and there's an identical part on the opposite side. If you're looking at the image it's near the bottom directly above the piping on either side.

Thanks,

Barry

Do you have the piece that fell off? I'm having a hard time seeing anything wrong with your image.

Thanks for the reply. To clarify, the image I posted was just one I found on this site as a way to describe the part. Is there a way to attach an image to a post? If so, I can take a picture of my actual part.

Thanks,

Barry

That explains why that lift looks familiar...that is my old 2007 M35x! :rotflmao

Please refer to the FAQ link in my signature. There is a guide on how to post images.

Well that's hilarious and embarrassing (on my part). Here's the image of my part looking somewhat worse for wear due to scraping on my driveway as well as the extra work I had to do to break it off completely. You can see that it was pretty well rusted out already.

Thanks again,

Barry

That's just a heat shield. You can toss it and not worry about it. These fall off on 75% of cars on the road anyway due to rust/salt/etc. I don't think you can replace just the shield anyway, you'd have to get the whole catalytic converter that it comes with.
