help identifying a wire

this wires comes from the same harness were the starter, battery, alternator and etc connections. it is black with a red stripe and is thicker than the other wires. I just want to know if this is a engine ground..

i think it is the engine ground.. it looks like it goes on the starter

guys one question, is it okay if I run a ground from the starter to the engine block????? and bolt that wire in the picture in the engine block too?? becoz it is hard to bold that onto the starter negative.... will fit but wont onto it...
