Going KA-T maybe, next year. Was deciding on whether to keep this one, or go with a S15 T28. The guy I bought it from said it was a "t3/t04e turbo (52/68ar)", but as Im going over the part numbers it looks like the Turbonetics' turbine housing is only .48 AR, and the garrett compressor side is a 50 trim:

Anyone have any ideas?

I'd recommend taking off the compressor and turbine housings, and using a caliper to measure the wheels. you can cross reference the measurments vs. trim/stage against a few different lists online. then you'll know for sure...

That's good to hear...

But it wouldn't be better than a brand new S15 T28, would it? This one was "rebuilt" by a reputable shop.

If I went with the T28, I could at least use SR piping + sr outlet. If I kept this one, I'd have to get the JGS kit w/ wastegate. The T28 would come out a little more expensive.

My goal is only around 250whp, street driven/DD (for now).

well, apparently, it has 20357 and 20358 on both sides of the turbine outlet. I can't even sell it, because I dont know what it is. I don't feel comfortable taking apart either.

I've decided to stay the T3 route too.

At least if you stay the T3 route you will have a lot of room for upgrade later on ..

hell yes, just go for it. Besides, 250whp on a t3/t4 is cake.

Seems like it actually is a .68 A/R.

I really wanted a GT2871R or a S15 T28 for the simplicity of using a T2x manifold/dump pipe. At the same time, I don't want to be bothered with coolant lines. If I go with this T3, I'd have to get a JGS kit.

Im assuming that this .68 would be lag city?

Not at all, .68 is exactly what you want for our engines. You'll start to see boost at around 2600, full boost by 3500 or before. I have the same sized turbo and i love it.

i have a .63 a/r and i see the full 9psi at 3000rpm's so .68 wouldn't much slower

and remember even at the same boost, a bigger turbo will pass more air due to the volume and the car will be faster. So at 250rwhp, you probably only need to run about 10 psi-ish -i'm guessing

Yeah. Ok. I think Im just going to go with the JGS kit, minus the turbo but WITH the wastegate.

Isn't almost impossible to NOT to make 250hp with a t3/t4 set up? I mean as long as you are tuned properly, it should be an easy goal. Good luck and post some videos, even if they aren't of your car and contain only scantily clad women, that would be fine.

I doubt I'll make 250whp starting out, since I'll be using a smic setup at first. Thanks man.

The only people I've seen that don't make @250hp or better, have some kind of issue like fuel or tuning in general. But either way a boosted 240= happy driver.Don't forget about the video.

yeah how about that video?..250hp is not hard to do on a t3/t4, even with a smic IMO

p.s. i wanna get a video of my ka-t sometime haven't got a chance to really show it to the nico crew..

Anything over 250 is a fun daily driver. I usually use a psi instead of a hp number when I set goals. That way I can choose the best turbo etc. Whatever power number you get after that is just gravy.

You'll be sitting between 250 and 300 without much trouble. At that point you can get sideways pretty easy.
