Searched over the last few days, I must be looking in the wrong places.

2x3 bolt pattern
Smooth back cover with 2 mount posts
Abs sensor in snout
Both output shafts spin together one way. very very hard to spin opposite way
About a 4.11 ratio as counted by turning, counting the input flange rotation
Sitting in the trunk of a S14 I just got.

Here are all the markings and pics below. Help?

Hey Rob, could be an S15 pumpkin/ diff. Popping off the cover and taking a photo of the internals might help. Like if it was an HTD, we'd see it pretty quick. That and the ABS rings, etc. Also, you need to fix your photos, maybe use another hosting site. If you see them, it's because you're on your machine and logged in and they're cached. Try it on another machine and not logged in and you'll see what we see, no pictures.

Your photos are working now! I'm gonna stick with S15 diff and let others correct or corroborate me. Crack it open. You might have the HTD (helical torsion differential). I paid like $700 bucks for mine from Japan and it was just the internals and output shafts... (hence my reason for not recognizing the pumpkin). So, it could be valuable.

looks like a 4.08 final drive based off the gear ring. Right?
Im not familiar with Nissan Diffs. Here is the Diff close up.

There's a time limit on editing posts, but I've got your back on this.

That looks like a plain ole' S14 diff to me.

Hmm, well, that's not a HTD. It's also not an open differential. It does look like a VLSD, but I haven't seen one of those in person, so I can't say it with complete confidence. The speed controller on the pumpkin makes it S15 to the best of my knowledge. S15 had the six speed transmission without speed sensor, so they put it into the differential. The S13 and S14 had five speed trannies with the speed sensor in the output shaft section, so no need for that on the differential.

It won't fit your S14 without a new driveshaft I think. But you could swap the internals over. Use the correct shims and check your load and lash... if you wanted a VLSD.

That's not necessarily a speed sensor on the input shaft, it's just an ABS sensor. The S13's and S14's with ABS both have it. It's obviously not an S13 diff because it has the large front mount holes and only two mounting studs on the rear cover. On the S15's they simply eliminated the speed sensor in the transmission and used the ABS sensor in the diff for speed as well. I have a helical and it's 100% sure not a helical. I've had a clutch type in the past as well and it's definitely not one of those. After some searching, it's probably a viscous, but there should have been an orange sticker on the driver side of the housing or rear cover somewhere saying VLSD on it. The fact that it has ABS and is an S14 diff makes it more likely for it have gotten a VLD as well.

Okay, learned on the ABS sensor bit and corroborated on the differential type. If that's the S14 case, then all you'd need is the rear half of the drive shaft for the ABS model I think... and something to plug the sensor hole.

Awesome! Thanks guys. VLSD it is. There is a drive shaft with it, I assume it is for that differential.

Honestly this car came with SO much suspension parts, drive train, interior.... crazy.

I want to get rid of it all and out of the garage before I start work on it.

I am going to look at the diff in the car to see what that one is.

Cool! As an enthusiasts car, these are known to come with piles of 'extras' pretty frequently. 240 guys are often hoarders. My wife celebrates any time I can make myself sell or recycle parts instead of storing them around the home. I figure I just need two more parts cars...

The VLSD sticker is often hard to see because it's covered in 20+ years of road grime and dirt. IIRC, on the S14 diffs, it's actually on the rear cover, near the mount, so it can be hard to see if the diff is installed.
