Trying to track down a horrible Squeek last night on the Q of doom, I found my front upper control arms look to be a custom adjustable unit. I've never seen them before on another Q, and they were so caked in grease and road grime that I never knew they were adjustable and had zerk fittings to grease the PU bushings. I took them off to clean them up, but found the PU bushing were totally shot. I need to find out who made these so I can find what size bushing goes in them.

Has anyone seen them before? I didn't find any branding on them.

Been a while since I posted on here. Here is a pic of the QofDoom as she sits. Still running very strong and problem free.

Good God.

Those are some home-grown pieces of garbage. They wouldn't do the job anyway (no need for adjustability if they're slammed to the narrowest setting).

Here's what you're looking for:

I think those are the Stealin .... I mean Stillen ones. Known bad choice.

The bottom ones are SPL for a 300ZX. Don't know if they are still stocked by SPL Parts.

They look like the stuff Stillen sold.

Thanks everyone for the reply's.

SPL doesn't list the part anymore.

i would assume the lack of adjust-ability is why the Q is tearing through the inside edge of front tires.

Anyone know where I could find something that would work?

Not necessarily. Alignment and rubber component condition is critical. If any component of the suspension is worn out of specification. the tire is unstable and will wear faster. If all is in specification, then a weak tire casing will cause instability in the tread and wear will be rapid. The multi-link design of the G50 front suspension puts tremendous stress on the the front tires which were originally specially built for the G50 by Michelin. They are no longer available.

I my experience, I have found only H rated or higher Michelins, Goodyear F1 GS D3, and Bridgestone RE 050a Pole Positions and Firestone EZ50SP to have sufficiently strong casings. One can write off and must avoid all Dunlops and second and third tier tire manufacturers like Kumho, Hankook, Sumitomo, Falken, Toyo, etc.

The Stillen design is inherently unstable, so they are not worth rebuilding. Go back to stock and drill your own Zerk fitting as TexasOil has suggested if you want longer life.

The old SPL parts are rare and I bought the last upper links in Austin. If I don't install them, I might put them up on the board here.

I had some spare outer tie rods and I cut into them for the hell of it. I found that they have a plastic liner and grease around everywhere. Basically I am saying drilling into them with a little grease on the end of the bit (to catch metal shavings) is a waste of time.

Plus where will all the old grease drain out to?

I think that was what he's saying.

Those are CLEARLY out of specification. As you can see, they're "adjusted" to their narrowest setting, and have destroyed the bushing. No adjustability = crap alignment.

Honestly, new OEM ones would be FAR better than that junk.

I have a set of stockers that MoD threw in with the car. I'll throw those on next chance I get.

Thanks for the info Greg. The suspension squeaks and severely cracked windshield are really the only things wrong with this car.

It was in the old Gallery which is Dead.

Stick with stockers and replace them every 40K - 60K (passenger side always wears out first). TexasOil said the Zerk fitting doubled the life of the bearings.

The SPL part was $350 when I bought them. Who knows what they are worth now NIB?

Not much, considering they're now $88 coming from the same supplier.

Z1 seems to think they're still worth $349, but they're not selling very many either. :)

Yeah, there were some cheap Chinese copies on the market, but they were pretty weak. Hope these are not they. Certainly aren't the SPL ones. Few people hot rodding the Z32 anymore.

Z32 forums are jamming lately, they're seeing a nice resurgence.

Wish the G50s had held up better, I get the itch to own one again every once in a while. :(
