my brother recentley bought what was thought to be a plain ol 240 sx but when he got the car it has a couple of different things about it that most people we have talked to say are not like any other 240 they have seen one being it does not say 240 anywhere on the car at all and aonther is that it has a digital speedo the car is a 90 model now i have done a VIN check on the car and it said it was made in japan and is a nissan 240 sx xe now will some one please tell us if we have stumbled on a 240 or a silvia and if so how would we be sure to tell what are the differences please help thank you.

If it has a digital speedo, it's most likely a 240sx coupe SE model. And no, you did not get a Silvia.

hahaha, If you managed to stumble upon a silvia the most obvious thing would be that the steering wheel would be on the right hand side.

You have a 240sx coupe with the SOHC KA24E

Where did he buy the car from? Silvias are coupes and they don't have the flip-up lights, then again there could of been a JDM front conversion on a fastback. Do you have pictures? I think that would help out a lot. The digital speedometer is quite interesting though.

Where was this other guy located? It doesn't matter that it doesn't say 240 any where, my car doesn't say anything any where except on the rear corner windows. What the car looks like is a bit more important here, so like I said take some pictures and post them! And the other two are right, if its a Silvia the steering wheel would be on the right side.

90 should be sohc unless swapped. Pop the hood and look and see what it says on the valve cover. Does it have pop-up lights? If not it has had a conversion. Look right behind your doors on the corner pieces does it say 240sx it's like 1"x3" In the window.

Isn't the SE model the only 240 that came with the wing? Does yours have a wing?

From what I have found, some, though rare, late model 90's had the twin cam. And the digital speedometer should only be on the window, HUD, or heads up display. The only areas on the body that say 240sx on the coupe is on the trunk ledge, and the back windows.
