i love my xtd, and its 148 dollar price tag
about the noise... when i did mine i think it made that noise when i fired up the car, and for the first few seconds (granted, the car was getting a transmission that hadnt ran in a few years, and had just been filled), maybe even for 30 seconds or so it made a similar noise.
perhaps the person who installed it didnt put the throwout bearing in right. I dont mean the bearing itself i mean a weirdo spring clip that is on the piece the throwout attaches to. Its also possible that he didnt grease anything... but i didnt really either, i just didnt wipe any old grease off. sure it was stupid but i didnt have any problems
i dont know why i didnt say this earlier, but was the flywheel resurfaced? i dont think it would cause this noise...... but my final guess is they installed the throwout bearing backwards.
the XTD koyo is not the same style as you pull off your oem transmission, it is possible to be confused during the install of the new bearing
edit: forgot to mention its possible you only need to adjust your clutch pedal. this works for most people. i replaced the slave cyl at the same time so i had to bleed the piss outta the system. You are probably grinding because the clutch isnt fully disengaging, and in neutral you are rubbing the flywheel.
either adjust clutch pedal, remove distribution box, bleed, or bleed by unbolting the clutch cyl opening it and raising it as high as you can.
