O.k. My car started shaking and misfiring on the way home yesterday. I got home and checked everything, and It seemed fine. So I reset my ECU and that solved it... for a little bit.

This moring I started my car up and it ran fine for a minute, then the problem returned. I tried to reset my ECU, but this time it did not fix it. I'm getting codes0607 and 0201 which is cylinder #2 misfire and Ingition Signal Primary Circuit Fault.

So far this is all we've done:

Changed the fuel injector, swapped ignition coil-packs, replaced spark plugs. Ran tests with a multimeter on the coil packs and the injectors and everything checks out. We have spark from the harness to the coil pack, coil pack to the plug, we pulled the coil pack out and placed it near the timing chain cover and it is sparking.

Now, I can unplug the injector and the coil either one at a time or both at once and there is NO change in the condition of the misfiring??????

It could be related but I might as well include it. I had a short in my pillar guages at the track on sunday, and then when the misfiring first occured my guages went out(no power) at the same exact time that my engine started misfiring. I did disconnect all the guages except for the signal wire feeding from the ECU to the Air/Fuel gauge before I reset the ECU the first time when it temporarily solved my problem:help :help :help

2 things to check.

1 check the ECM connector and see if water is running down onto it from the heater box. The water would be from the A/C condensation. That would mean you evap core drain is plugged you clear it by sticking a small screw driver in the drain from under the passenger side of the car.

2 try wiggling the harness near the right strut tower and see if it makes the problem come and go. If it does you need to open the harness and find the broken wire. It will be tough since its insulation will still be intact. You will need to ohm out the wire for the #2 coil signal between the ecm and the coil. While ohm checking it wiggle the harness and see if it makes and breaks continuity if it does you now need to locate that color wire in the about 100 wires running through the loom and feel for the break in that wire by squeezing the insulation with your finger nails till the insulation collapses where the break is. Then its just a matter of repairing it.

I forgot to include that we did check down by the ECU for water and condensation. Recently my high-pressure AC line was busted by a stainless nitrous line and now I have no AC. Could that have anything to do with it.

What's weird is that ten minutes after I wrote the first post I went outside, and the motor was running nearly perfect without changing anything. Before starting the motor that time a friend wiggled the harness to the #2 coilpack. We replaced the front three coils(free parts) because it was still running a little rough and that took care of everything. Would a bad alternator cause this, because I had misfiring, guages went out, and I started getting feedback and really bad crackling in my front left speakers?
