Bought a 92 TT that someone built the motor up and got it running but the guy started it for me before I knew he was going to. It had a z1 motorsports ecu put in a day or two before I looked at it. Now by him just starting it without tuning it isnt that pretty bad for internals and timing. Heres a parts list and status of vehicle: The following parts are OEM: Engine harness Timing belt Tensioner Cam seals Front crank seal Rear crank seal Valve cover gaskets Intake plenum gasket Lower plenum gasket Oil pan Oil pan front and rear half moon seals Throttle body gaskets Head gaskets Head studs Exhaust manifold gaskets

I wouldn't be that worried if you just started it a few times. I wouldn't be pushing its limits or anything. Throw in a base program for that setup and you should be good to go.

Thanks for your reply. I have a good amount of knowledge in PC computers. What do i need to be able to set the base map on the z1 ecu. I understand doing that alone isn't all I need to do for it to be tuned and driveable.

There is a little more into it. Personally I would call up Specialty Z, Conceptzperformance, or Z1 nd have them do a base tune as noted. You will need a program writer specifically designed to adjust fuel maps and so on. They are pricey, but at least getting the tune from the shops listed, you can drive the car. Use the chip that is in the ECU to learn how to program the ECU. JUst a thought

I would not start out trying to make the tune yourself. As said, I would start with a base tune from one of the reputable shops mentioned. I'll give props to SZ, as they will answer any extra questions you have in relation to the tune.
