okay I am completely out of ideas. I've posted on numerous nissan boards and no one can figure out what the hell is the matter with this POSI just finished the install of my IAP kit and I'm running stock MAF/370cc/SAFC at -27 correction on the SAFC the car is running about 11.8-12 A/F. car sort of sputters a little and blows smoke (obviously) now if I lean the sucker out to like -45 correction I can get it to 14.4-14.5 but it runs like complete crap. no smoke but the idle is very harsh and sounds like its ready to die at any moment. I previously had bad o rings on the injectors but I replaced them all and did the "pull the wire to each injector" trick to check for torn rings. I checked the wiring on the SAFC like 5 times. and have Intialized the settings like 5 times as well. since the correction is working (just not very well) I'm thinking that's fine. I checked the compression on the motor for giggles that seems fine. I had the car set for stock timing before the turbo install and have never touched the distributer so I'm guessing that's fine. it sits at -22 vacuum so I think all the lines are buttened up fine. I'm running brand new NGK BKR7E's at stock gap. I am completely out of ideas on what could be wrong and why its running ridiculously rich and why when I lean it out to where it should be it gets pissy! someone please tell me I've missed something. this damn car is pissing me off!!! could the MAF be bad? could my timing just be off a little. I don't get it!

check maf with a volt meter, the voltage should rise from .5 volt at idle to a max of 5v at full load,

also check your fpr it could have a busted diaphram and could be causing your probs.

Is your S-AFC set to hotwire?

What do you have for In/Out settings?

Are you sure your timing is 100% correct? At any point did you pull the dizzy out? Sounds like how my car ran when the timing was off by a tooth...

I've got the SAFC set for 5 in 5 out, 1 & 1, 4 cy, arrow /

I'm 99% sure I didn't pull the dizzy during the install. I talked to Marc at IAP and he said he thinks the BOV needs adjusted. never heard of that one. I'll check timing, and the BOV tonight and see what happens. and keep you guys posted. I don't have a voltmeter to check the MAF. if the MAF was dead wouldn't the airflow reading on the SAFC be like 0 or something?

First, your A/F ratio should be between ~12-13:1. It seems that you are skiping this range entirly. Try adjusting for the injectors and leaving A/F alone. Also, I would set timing to stock and just see if you can get it to idle right. It always helps to deal with one variable at a time. You can even drive it a little - just don't get into too much boost.

If you are blowing smoke, that's another thing all together.

what i did when working with stock and tunned ecu and safc is this

set the correction to what it should be like you have at -27%, play with other settings until its close to being where it should be.

settings to mess with:in/out for hot wire sometimes 6in/6out work for stock maf. my car seemed to like 2 in ave out.

dec. air will also change the idle around some also

Plugs are at stock gap of 44? If at idle then doesn't matter. But if you hit any boost it will break up. I got the IAP kit and no problems for me.

Glad to hear you figured it out. Now tune it up and get it running clean. You won't regret all the time and work you put in.
