Help! I have a clutch pressure issue..

So a few days ago, I was on my way home when I actually felt my clutch gradually loosing pressure. Eventually, I had exactly no pressure and I couldnt even get on gear. So I pulled over and checked my clutch fluid reserviour, and of course it was empty like I thought. So I filled it back up with dot 3 and managed to drive home.

The next day, I bled my clutch and checked my lines, but I couldnt (and didn't) find any leaks!

anyways, so now heres my issue (besides the fact I didn't find the leak), I don't have any clutch pressure until I depress the clutch pedal half way down. Why am I not getting instant pressure?

A few things to add, I don't remember the last time I changed my clutch master and slave cylinder. car: 1992 240sx; engine (if that even matters): sr20det; clutch: exedy oem replacement

I'm say your master and/or slave cylinder/s is/are bad. I don't know where your fluid went to, but if it was empty and you were pushing the clutch pedal that could have messed up the master/slave cylinders since you were pumping air. Make sure your slave isn't the source of the leak. Did you pull the boot on the slave aside and see if any fluid came out? That might be where the fluid leaked from.

yeah, I did that and nothing.

I'm probably gonna buy a new master and slave cylinder and see if it makes a difference....

if there are no leaks and the flid was empty it is possible that the cluch has worn down and the fluid is taking up its slack in the system. also if air was trapped in the system it can be quite difficult to remove (as a nissan tech i have found bleeding nissan clutchs to be a headache).

my clutch is barely a year and a half years old... Can it wear down that fast?

its hard to sy if your clutch is bad or not without me driving it, but yes it is possible (i put a clutch in a 350z at 900 miles because the driver didnt know how to drive a 6-spd, it sounds like you know how to drive one)i you do start replacing hydraulic parts make sure you have a vacuum bleeder to help get all the air out. i have also found that bleedng the 240 clutch systems it is helpfult to raise the rear of the vehicle and not the front.

The exedy organic clutch can die quick even on a stock SR depending on how you drive it Adrian. Have you deleted your dampener box yet? That makes the clutch system much easier to bleed.

Check the floorboard for fluid.If the master leaks it usually just runs under the floormat.

bringin this one back up to date, im tryin to bleed my hydraulic system (brakes/clutch) and i just read somewhere that if your master is dry and you press the clutch then you start pumping air through your system. well im pretty sure i've depressed the clutch w/o fluid in it. and is the dampener box homeslice the little box with the bleeder valve just before your clutch??
