ok.....i had my car on(idk why) when going to put my cold air intake in my 94 altima and i broke the connection on my mass air flow sensor, which shorted it out. i replaced the mass air flow sensor, but i beleive i shorted out something else as well because the car sounds horrible when it is plugged in and stalls. i can drive the car with it unplugged, but it does not go over 2500 RPMs and burns gas horribly. can someone please help me?

actually i broke the circuit board on the mafs with a screw driver which shorted it out. we replaced the mafs twice and it still doesnt work. black smoke comes out of the exuast pipe when its connected then it stalls. when disconnected it goes into fail safe mode sshould i replace the ecu.

I would do continuity all the way to the ECU from your MAF wires. and see if you are getting the same voltage from the MAF to the ECU. SO test it once at the MAF and once at the ecu, its possible you could have fried wires. Also any chance you are getting the wrong MAF?because the fact that it affects the way the car runs, tells me the ECU is reacting to whatever signal your MAF is sending.

You probably need to reset the ECU. It is still in limp mode from the short.
