are you just taking out the center trim piece that surrounds the stereo? it should be a snap in piece.

Yeah, you can even take as much as the trim around your climate control if you need to, but not the dash.

Best Buy: see above note

Speakers connected to factory amp = Active Speakers ( Had to purchase the 240 manual direct from the factory 280$ OUCH ) but in fact that little amp is quite nice to leave intact unless you installing one. I left both of mine in and also have a Memphis 1000watt amp to boot. But even without the Memphis the speakers sounded great. When installing a new radio and leaving the amps in you will need the wiring maps to get it to all work right (or online guide from someone who has already done the process). From what I can recall I believe is is only two wires that have to be cut and spliced (been about years since I had to do it). But best of luck either way you go, and if need be I can break out the book and take a look for you

You dont have to outrun the Vette in front of you , just keep the Honda's in the rearview mirrors.

Wow that looks insane, not to mention you can easily crack your dash in the process, not fun.

So do S14 owners have to drop their steering column to get the instrument cluster out? Just curious. In all my pulling and prying I couldn't get this out on my '92. Made things muuuch easier.

that picture is exactly the reason that if you ahve to take out the dash, id have an audio shop do it, or study on the topic for a while

okay previous owner had some sh!tty *** amp setup. i mean i can see all the wires and the amp is hanging out from the back of the passangers seat. my friends were stepping all over the amp and the wires. now all the wires are jacked up and sound wouldnt work....i kinda figured out that all the front speakers and back speakers wires are extended and hooked up to this amp and here are some question i like to ask.....should i replace the wires and relocate the amp?or should i just throw this amp away and put it back to normal?i try to put it back to normal but i couldnt figure it out the wiring

No offense but that is the crappiest job ive ever seen. I redid all my wiring when i got my complete new system in. Ripped out all the stock speakers, amps , wiring. Let me tell you its alot of work and its confusing.

It took two days , I redid it all with new wiring, solder'd everything together to make sure i never have problems.

The rear speakers i redid and ran the wiring on teh side of the driver behind the seat, then ran it throught the center console by the airbag wiring up to the mp3 deck.you should see the car lol .... it was care metal .. i got some pics somewhere i'd have to find.

fun fun fun

I believe the previous owner has screwed you, from the picture it looks as if when he installed the aftermarket radio (I say that because I noticed the preamp wires) he cut the actual factory connector out and tried straight wiring the system, instead of paying $8 for a wiring harness from Wal-Mart (sigh). With that said you are more than likely gonna have to extend the wires if they arent long enough, hopefully you like working with wires because looks like you have your hands full. Im going to the shop where me and couple of my friends work on our cars to get my manaul.

Here is the basic gist of want needs to happen to get the speakers to work without removing the factory amps. Which if you take alook at the one in the trunk it is pop-rivoted into place and is a ***** to remove. Ok the way the factory radio was set up is that when you turned the radio on it turned the amps on, and with aftermarket radios the wire that controls the factory amps are removed and you have to splice the amp hot wire into the radio power wire. That way you get sounds (angels rejoice and heavenly light). So if you are comfortable ohm'ing out wires you can locate the amps power with a meter. But if you have to go the route of bypassing your factory amps due to the previous owners ignorance then that will be nasty, basically you will have to rewire the audio system . But in any case will get the book today and will check post tonight to see how you doing.

im so confused right now!!??!!!i might ask my friend to help me out because im so lost hahahahaanyways how much do you think its gonna cost me to rewire them because seems to me is that he did really bad job and i dont think just put it back wouldnt help so i might just rewire the whole thing again....depends on the cost!!! if its cheap enough then i will do it....

The price to rewire it wont be to bad, wire is cheap and so are connectors. Thing that makes it tidious is if you do it right you want to remove all the old wires, connectors, amps ect. and it takes TONS of time. Like stated above atleast a whole good day maybe more. Wire and connectors though will run you all together (good set) under $35-45 depending on the vendor.

And just so you you know I didnt forget to consult my book on the hot wire for the factory amps is the BLUE wire running from them . But if you and your friend have the time I vote on a whole new set up bud, because it looks like a couple rats had a wild orgy in your wires there and left you with the **** to clean up Best of luck and let us know how it turns out.
