Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and just got an AC 2.5 2 months ago, loving it so far :D. So far the only thing I've done to my coupe is the stock spoiler (I wanted to get stillen one, but the dealer gave me a good deal..) and I'm thinking about getting an HID conversion kit next. The stock halogen light is really dark and not cool enough!

So my question is have any one in Vancouver BC installed HID on the 2.5? I looked around and found out these 3 local HID sellers:Velocitygetter (http://www.velocitygetter.com) $200 include installing,Distincitive Element (http://www.deautorestyling.com/hid.htm) $360 include installing. NMotion (http://www.n-motionauto.net/auto_lighting.html) $250 includ installing.

Have any one had any good/bad experience with the above seller? Distinctive Element seems to be very expensive, but is there a reason why it is expensive?

Thanks for your help!

wow dude.. those are way expensive. you can get them online for $80. the problem is that shipping to vancouver is like... $40, then you have to pay the duties or UPS handling fees they throw on there as well as converting to CAD.

look around craigslist, there's quite a few places that sell them for around $100.

HID kits are pretty generic, i got mine from ddmtuning.com cause they have a lifetime warranty, $80, plus shipping, plus UPS handling fees i ended up paying a lilttle over 150 CAD.

nice to see another vancouverite around here, hope to see you around

Are your DDM's setting a bulb error code in the car? I have been looking for HID's as well and was wondering if I need DDM's code eliminator as well Jp

nope no error code, and nobody else who has ddm that i've heard of have gotten this code either. must be model specific, like some cars need them but others don't kinda thing. just get the kit, and pick up a relay if you want to ensure nothing happens to your factory harness, though i didn't get one and mine have been problem free other than a pair of reversed wires the kit came with, but that was an easy fix

Its much cheaper to cross the border and pick up your stuff yourself. I use http://www.packageexpress.com (like 1 block across the border). Most of the time they don't charge you any tax or duty when you cross back if its around 100 bux or under. And they usually only charge you PST/GST if it is over 100 ish (depends on how nice the border person is). I've heard there is a similar package depot for point roberts or peace arch...just google it or something. But ya...shippping to Canada...taxes, duty, brokerage fees (totally not worth it).

Oh ya, i'm also rockin the DDM tuning for my fogs (H11), the reverse harness, i just turned it around and taped it (works fine). So ya, i'd go with the DDM for 80 bux and just DIY (i'm pretty sure there's a DIY thread for that).

Just use ebay, if you want I can give you the seller that I and numerous people have bought their HIDs on here from. They are the Xentecs, one of the best kits, the slim ones, as small as a credit card. I have had no problems and haven't heard of any complaints.

There was a thread about which HID kit to buy and everyone voted for the Xentec kit and posted a reply about reliability. I love mine and have no problems, seeing the road FTW!

........but I guess I'm biased

Hey man,

I got mine installed by D element about 2 years ago on my Altima. I have had some really good experiences with them. Very professional installations and completely hassle free. I had my bulbs burn out a week after the warranty claim, yet they still cover me for the bulb.
They are mobile service too, so you don't have to worry about waiting in a body shop whatsoever. You may save money buying it over ebay but warranty claim is always an issues . They always blamed about other parts go wrong that is why it caused their product to be defective. Bad experiences online for me.
