Help!! HICAS LIGHT COMES on, and belt squeeks!!!

... ineed someones help...i dont know if my belt is just worn or if it needs tighten.but since middle december its been sqeeking and after 3000rpm it would stop...and couple weks after that my HICAS light came on which has never came on before.what is going on its a 19993 240sx...please help me its -30 here and i dont want to have my baby parked down any more! :'(

check your p/s belt. if its been squeeling for awhile now just replace it and set the tension on it properly. See if that resolves your problems. the hicus light my be on due to low line pressure since the belt is slipping on the pulley.

i jus replaced the alternator belt ...and VOILA!!! (battery is dead, and alternator was not holding the charge)...so now the battery is re charged and the HICAS light is gone, NEVERS SQUEEK and HEATS UP FAST....next mission replacing the gas tank...has anyone replaced there gas tank b4?!

when my hicas light comes on.. i just put p/s fluid in the resevoir and the light goes away

i dont know if thats the right way to fix it, but it works. and my car has no problems.

well it was the fact that HICAS is kinda weird...its electric, but if u have low P/S fluid it will come on..ok but heres my question my hicas light comes on, then i shut the car off and it goes away...i have a P/S leak...im wondering if that is the problem? any ideas?

it could be the leak as the source of the problem but whats going on is it probably has air in the system and is registering as low line pressure. fix the leak and purge the system of air and see if that helps keep the light from coming on.
