so this started yesterday. car wont start for the life of it. will start if i push start it but thats hard to do if ur by urself. so let me describe the symptoms. car wont start at all. no noise no ticking. i thought it was the starter relay, so i got a new one and installed but no luck. i did check if the rubber gromet behind the clutch pedal was worn but it wasnt that cuz i held down the swith with my finger and tried starting the car but no luck. now im thinking its my alarm (clifford concept 400) since it has a starter and ignition kill. but the alarm seems to be working fine since i havent messed with it one bit since it was installed. it was installed like 3 years ago so its been a while. any idea what it could be? if i heard ticking, then it would be the starter but there is no noise. the engine doesnt turn over or anything. HELP PLEASSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE

Check the battery and the wiring from the battery to the starter.

yes starter is located as you described.

I am thinking it might be your clifford or factory alarm that might be partially disabled. try unlocking your doors with your key[both doors then try to start it. if it starts your factory alarm is only partially operational. that may have been done by who ever installed your alarm. If that doesnt work your gonna need to break out a test light and start checking for power at different points.

well we ended up doing the "knock the starter with a hammer" and the car started. i guess it was the starter but we will be confirming that tomorrow with the test light. the clifford alarm wasnt partially disabled cuz it was operating and giving me the right signals and chirps. what do u think tho? im gonna change the starter tomorrow and we will see how that goes. i might get the alarm checked out on fri also.

o ya, car has 130,000 on it so im not too surprised if it is the starter. its the original starter that came with car in 93.

quick question, can the starter from a KA24E fit or also be used in a KA24DE?

I was saying the factory alarm might be partially disabled.

I do not believe they are interchangable.

didnt come with a factory alarm. was aftermarket. no kill switch tho but the alarm does cut the starter and ignition. as for the starter not being interchangeable, someone else in another section of NICO said that the starters were interchangeable. any way for u to confirm nistech?
