Ok heres what happened, i was on my way home from work, my car was running great, better than it had before. and then i hit backed up traffic, well it took almost an hour to get thru that, and when i finnily got thru it i went to accelerate and my car did nothing but spit, stutter at anything past 1/4th throttle, but it would pull up to redline still and not have any problems aslong as the gas pedal wasnt past the 1/4th point. it really starts bogging down, and will almost die. it sounds like its not getting enough air or gas, or the ignition is crapping out. any ideas?

well being that the throttle is obviously open, it's probably not getting fuel. I had a problem similar to this, the solution for me was to clean the vacuum hoses that led off the intake. It's a big vacuum hose in particular. I just sprayed intake cleaner into it, let it soak and dirty stuff came out. ran great after that. Sounds as though your problem would probably be different being as how yours started all of a sudden.

check your fuel pressure when throttling up. if it drops off on hard throttle I would start looking at fuel filter, fuel pressure reg first. if it dont drop off i would start lookin at air flow meter voltage sweeps and tps sweeps.

well after letting it sit overnight the problem seems to have dissapeare. but while it was acting up last night, i nailed the pedal to the floor, and it backfired and a white flash came from underneath the car, so i was thinking that the cat converter might be on its way out if not gone allready, and not letting enough exhaust flow by causing it to build up pressure and making everything overheat and not function properly....does this make any sense? but i do know that my fuel filter does need to be replaced. the reg seems to be fuctioning fine, and the fuel pressure is ok. it only seemed to act up when it the engine was up to temp. anyother time it would rip thru the gears like a mo fo.
