I just bought a mishimoto radiator with a 12 in electric fan for my s13. Has the stock ka (de) motor w/ a few bolt-ons and what not.

Anyways, ive been reading as to what others have done but im retarded when it comes to electric stuff and wiring.

I dont want to have make a switch and have to turn the fan on myself.Instead, i want the fan to go on automatically, once a certain temperature is reached.

Can anyone please help me out with my options as to what can be done....

....also, at what temp should i have the fan come on?

Easiest way is to utilize a temp sensor and have the fan wired to that IMO. Nissan factory lower rad hoses from the '89-90 models have a fan switch in them (it was for the A/C fan).

I made a crappy MSPaint diagram a while ago on how I wire e-fans with a relay

Basically, you tap a battery power source (I just run a wire to the positive terminal) and use it to power the relay's coil and gated circuit. Then you run the power complete from the gated side to the fan. And you run the power complete for the coil side to the switch. Then you ground out the switch and the fan.

When the temp hits about 190 or so, it should complete the circuit and activate the relay. When the relay is activated, the fan turns on.

Can you explain this a little more. My circuit knowledge sucks and I'd really like to use this basic setup for an article in the G forums. The first two production year auto sedans has belt driven fans

my cousin came over today and looked at it with me. He said he can test to see if the AC electric fan wiring plug tests 12 volts.....if it does, then he can wire an electric fan to the that and the battery and have the fan manually controlled from inside the car by pressing the AC button and having the AC on.

Anyone done this or think it will work?

I really wanna get this done bc its basically the only thing left to do besides adding fluids then my 240 is back on the road in action!!!

and when that day comes....there will be some whore posting pics

I did mine last week literally via nchopp's method, found it easy and very worthwhile

I went with the cheapo Hayden fan thermostatic fan controller and played with it on commutes back and forth from work until I achieved the fan on temp I wanted.

I'd like to go with a Dif fan controller but that will have to wait until I get a new radiator and hoses.

Hows the Mishimoto rad. working out? I was looking into one and then the prices went from 165 to 225 at most retailers so I assumed they were good but I've had no experience with them myself, only hear say on teh nicos.

Get that ish done though, you'll thank yourself when your done.
